We had a fun weekend. We headed to Raleigh on Sunday morning for a Crate and Barrel registry event. Getting registered is fun and interesting at the same time. You're essentially just picking out a bunch of stuff you think is nice that you're hoping people will buy for you. I manned the gun, Katie said "I like this", and I shot the merchandise sticker. We were around a bunch of other couples there as well, so it was fun to see how people's tastes differed within the same store. Crate and Barrel is a store I've always thought of as "one of those". You know, the kind of store that guys don't go in for multiple reasons, and even if they did they wouldn't be able to afford the air that wafts around. Surprisingly, I found things very affordable, so much so that I can only think of just a few items that we picked out that were over $30. Maybe I'm stretching it, but still, I was pleasantly surprised.

We also met with our photographer, Kevin Milz, and his wife Abby (who I went to high school with). It was great seeing Abby since I hadn't seen her in years, and also great talking with Kevin. His attention to detail is what initially attracted us to his work, and it's easy to discern if you look through his albums online. We're definitely excited about working with him. Here's a link to his website if you're interested in looking at some of his work....

Let's see...other news. Oh yeah, we're officially having the wedding at St. Mary's Chapel in Raleigh...we think....sort of...maybe. Nah just kidding, it'll be at St. Mary's. We're still looking for a reception place, but hopefully it'll be finialized soon. The Pavilions wasn't available on Oct. 24th, and a few other places we were looking into were booked, but hopefully we'll find something soon.
We have our second pre-marital counseling session this Thursday with Father Van. It's been a lot of fun so far, so we're looking forward to that. And with that said, I think you're officially up to date! I hope all of you are doing well and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Another idea for our reception...
So we're also thinking of having the reception at The Pavilions at Angus Barn. Hope told us last night that the Art Museum is undergoing some renovations so it might not be the ideal place for a reception. Katie is looking into the cost of having it at The Pavilions. We looked at some pictures today and it's a nice place. Here are a few.....

Katie and Daniel
Well, you're here, so you're fully aware that Katie and Daniel are getting married! So where did this all start? How did things begin? We'll get to all of that, but let's get to the nitty gritty real quick. We'll officially seal the deal on October 24th, 2009. We're hoping to be married at either Saint Mary's Chapel in Raleigh, NC or St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Goldsboro, NC. For a reception, we're looking at several places but the Art Museum in Raleigh is one potential. Here's a picture of each place:

I think we can't go wrong either way. Both look like beautiful churches. We're also in the works of reserving a photographer, looking for a caterer, and other such details. Advice from those reading who have previous experience is always welcome! Regardless, we're both extremely excited about the planning process and starting our lives together.
So, the next several months will be extremely exciting for us. Daniel will find out where he matches for anesthesiology residency on March 19th, so afterward we'll either be planning a move or hanging out in Greenville for another year. Yes, it's a possibility that we'll spend 1 more year in Greenville, and then 3 years in another city for anesthesiology training. We'll keep you updated.
Katie is cruising through another year as a high school English teacher. Depending on where we match for residency training, Katie plans to either teach in Greenville or teach in another city. Or perhaps she'll switch gears and head back to school to pursue her PhD in education.
We'll keep you all updated on how things develop in the coming months, but we definitely hope to see you all on October 24th! If we don't see you beforehand, please settle for a few pictures from our recent dinner celebrating the engagement!
